Egypt Condemns Attacks on Aid Convoys and Medical Facilities in Sudan

Cairo: Egypt strongly condemned the repeated attacks targeting humanitarian aid convoys and medical facilities in Sudan, including a drone strike on a convoy belonging to the World Food Program (WFP) in North Kordofan state, which left one aid worker dead and others wounded. The attack also destroyed food assistance intended for displaced families.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt also cited another similar incident in the same state that killed 24 civilians, describing the attacks as a dangerous continuation of efforts to target humanitarian corridors and obstruct relief operations. In a statement issued on Sunday, February 8, 2026, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates condemned an attack on a medical facility in the Kordofan region that resulted in the death of dozens of people and the injury of others, including medical staff.

The ministry said the attacks constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which guarantees full protection for civilians, healthcare facilities and medical and humanitarian workers, and strictly prohibits targeting them under any pretext. Egypt said the repeated violations were deepening the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Sudan, amid rising displacement and worsening food insecurity.

Egypt underlined the importance of ensuring unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to reach the Sudanese people in order to alleviate their suffering and help create conditions conducive to de-escalation and the restoration of stability.
