Baghdad:Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, emphasized the need for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and preserve the city's religious and historical identity.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made these remarks during a meeting with the newly appointed OIC Secretary-General, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, on the sidelines of the organization's 52nd Council of Foreign Ministers session in Baghdad.
He rejected any actions that aim to change Jerusalem's historic and legal status and called for joint efforts to address ongoing Israeli violations, including settlement expansion, annexation, and settler violence, while advocating support for the Palestinian cause.
Additionally, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to strengthening the OIC's role and enhancing cooperation among member states to promote regional security, stability, and development.
