Egypt Applauds US Move to Delist Syria from Terrorism Sponsors

Egypt: Egypt welcomed the United States' decision to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, stating that the move would support efforts to achieve stability in Syria, enhance prospects for economic recovery and reconstruction, and create favorable conditions for Syria to resume its role in the Arab and international communities.

According to State Information Service Egypt, a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates emphasized the importance of continued support for the Syrian people. The statement highlighted the necessity for assistance that would help the Syrian state recover, strengthen its national institutions, and preserve Syria's unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, stability, and development.

Egypt underscored that respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity is crucial for achieving lasting stability in the country and the region. It further noted that stability in Syria is linked to ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, address the challenge of foreign terrorist fighters, and enhance the capability of Syria's national state institutions in maintaining the country's security and stability.
