Cairo: Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with British Ambassador to Cairo, Gareth Bayley, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation and expanding investment opportunities in the healthcare sector, the ministry reported. The meeting addressed the current state of joint health projects and explored new areas of collaboration to support Egypt's efforts to develop its healthcare system and improve service quality, said the ministry spokesperson.According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Population and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), with the aim of using the latest scientific methods in evaluating healthcare services, thereby supporting decision-making. Further discussions tackled strengthening collaboration within the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS), population challenges, and the importance of aligning international and domestic efforts to address national health priorities.The meeting highlighted digital transformation in healthcare, with an emphasis on developing digital infrastructure to improve the efficiency and quality of services, according to the announcement. The discussions also reviewed Egypt's efforts in providing medical care to wounded Palestinians, reaffirming the country's commitment to continuing humanitarian and medical support, as stated in the release.Primary healthcare systems and their critical role in promoting public health were also in focus. The ambassador praised Egypt's healthcare development efforts and expressed the UK's interest in expanding joint programmes across multiple health fields, highlighting the strength of British-Egyptian ties.
