Egypt and Turkey Explore New Investment Horizons Through SCZONE Visit

Cairo: The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) in Istanbul organized a promotional visit for Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), to Turkey from September 29 to October 2, 2025. The visit was part of the cooperation protocol between ECS and SCZONE, aimed at promoting the zone as a prime destination for foreign investment. The program included high-level meetings with Turkish business associations such as the Union of Exporters of Yarns and Textiles and MUSIAD, as well as 18 bilateral meetings with major Turkish companies spanning textiles, automotive components, renewable energy, and consumer goods.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the itinerary also featured field visits to leading industrial firms in Istanbul and Bursa, including an electric and hydrogen bus manufacturer, a control systems producer, and a sportswear company already establishing a new factory in Egypt. A tour of Ambarli Port, one of Turkey's major export hubs, provided an opportunity to discuss enhanced connectivity and cooperation with Egyptian ports. Several Turkish firms expressed serious interest in launching investment projects within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The visit comes as Egyptian-Turkish economic ties witness strong momentum, fueled by reciprocal high-level visits between the two countries' leaderships over the past year. Turkish investments in Egypt have reached around $4 billion, while bilateral trade volume stands close to $10 billion. Turkey is now the second-largest destination for Egyptian exports, underlining the strategic importance of expanding cooperation across key industrial sectors.
