Egypt and Spain Sign Landmark Partnership for Development Agreement

Cairo: Egypt and Spain signed the first-of-its-kind Partnership for Development Agreement (2025-2030) during King Felipe VI of Spain's historic visit to Cairo and the Egypt-Spain Business Forum.According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement was signed by Egypt's Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Spain's Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to enhance economic cooperation and development between the two nations.This milestone is part of the strategic partnership framework established in February 2025. It highlights both countries' resolve to bolster joint development efforts in priority sectors. Dr. Al-Mashat noted that King Felipe VI's first official visit to Egypt and his discussions with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the robust bilateral ties and continuous progress in recent years, with an aim to broaden cooperation in political, economic, and social domains.Dr. Al-M ashat further explained that the partnership program initiates a new era of collaboration based on equality, dialogue, and joint action, aligning with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The program focuses on inclusive and sustainable economic growth, food security, women's empowerment, climate change, and water management.The program represents the first global agreement of its kind for the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). A joint committee from Egypt's Ministry of Planning and the Spanish Embassy in Cairo will be responsible for overseeing the program's implementation, ensuring effective coordination between the two countries.
