Cairo: Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh has engaged in discussions with Singaporean Ambassador to Egypt Dominic Goh to explore ways of strengthening investment and trade ties between Egypt and Singapore, as well as increasing mutual investments. The talks also focused on opportunities for Singaporean companies to expand their business operations in Egypt and attract new investments.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Saleh emphasized the need to build upon the positive developments that have characterized Egyptian-Singaporean relations in recent years. He advocated for advancing these relations to a more advanced stage through economic partnerships that support bilateral trade and investment. Saleh highlighted the importance of leveraging Singapore's advanced expertise in areas such as financial center management, digital transformation, logistics, and supply chains.Saleh underscored the significance of intensifying meetings and promotional efforts to present av ailable investment opportunities in Egypt to Singaporean companies. He encouraged existing companies to expand their business operations while attracting new investments, particularly in priority industrial and productive sectors.Additionally, the discussions touched on promoting Egypt as a production and export hub for regional and international markets. This strategy aims to capitalize on Egypt's strategic geographic location and the trade agreements it has signed with Arab, African, and European markets.The meeting also addressed ways to increase Egyptian exports to the Singaporean market, improve the trade balance between the two countries, and identify competitive Egyptian products with potential for market access and expansion in Singapore. By evaluating market requirements, both sides aim to facilitate the entry of Egyptian products into the Singaporean market.Saleh and Goh explored opportunities to benefit from Singapore's expertise in developing logistics and supply chains. This cooperation cou ld contribute to the development of logistics infrastructure, industrial zones, and distribution centers in Egypt. Furthermore, potential collaboration in carbon certification and sustainability was discussed.A proposal to organize a promotional mission to Singapore was also reviewed, aiming to highlight investment opportunities and economic cooperation in Egypt. The mission would focus on promoting priority sectors and projects.The two sides emphasized the importance of continued communication, coordination, and follow-up on the expansion plans of existing Singaporean companies in Egypt, as well as new investments. They also committed to addressing any challenges facing investors to strengthen economic, investment, and trade relations between the two countries.
