Cairo: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini met to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in digital capacity building, innovation, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications infrastructure to enhance digital integration.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks aimed to foster a deeper partnership between the two nations in the ICT field. Talaat highlighted Egypt’s commitment to developing an integrated information society at the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital. This site includes significant institutions such as the Information Technology Institute and the National Telecommunication Institute.
Talaat extended an invitation to the Saudi ambassador to visit Knowledge City to explore its programs related to digital innovation, electronic design, skilled digital talent development, international partnerships, and research in AI and assistive technology localisation.
Ambassador Al-Husseini acknowledged the strong and long-standing ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He expressed interest in visiting Knowledge City and Egypt’s centres of digital innovation. The ambassador also suggested exploring potential cooperation between Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in tech innovation and entrepreneurship.
