Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al-Busaidi have affirmed the alignment of their visions and the complementary efforts of both countries to reinforce security and stability in the region.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministers emphasized the importance of adhering to international law, resorting to wisdom and justice, and using all available peaceful means to bring together all parties in line with the supreme interests, sovereignty, and national security of their nations. This came during a meeting between Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart as part of continued consultations and coordination between the two countries.
They discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional issues of common interest. They also reviewed ongoing cooperation programs in various fields and opportunities to develop further economic and investment partnerships.
On the political front, both ministers reaffirmed their positions supporting the Palestinian people's right to freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital, based on the 1967 borders. They stressed the necessity of lifting the blockade on Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories, allowing the immediate entry of humanitarian and relief materials, and paving the way for reconstruction.
Regarding Yemen, both sides expressed support for the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue in Riyadh, aiming for a political settlement that preserves Yemen's sovereignty, unity, and stability. They also discussed developments in Sudan, emphasizing the importance of supporting national institutions, halting fighting, protecting civilians, and facilitating humanitarian assistance.
Both ministers expressed pride in the strong, historical relations between Egypt and Oman, reaffirming their commitment to coordination and cooperation in areas that serve mutual interests and strengthen regional security and stability. This aligns with the directives of the leaderships of the two countries and the aspirations of their peoples.
