Cairo:Egypt and Oman have committed to pursuing diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of conflict between the United States and Iran. This agreement was reached during a phone conversation between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart, Badr Al-Busaidi, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministers agreed to continue consultations to avert a resumption of military operations and to steer the ongoing Iran crisis back toward negotiations. This call followed reports from US officials indicating that American forces had conducted limited strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island. The developments came as Qatar proposed a new draft deal to end the war, amid concerns of a possible US-Israeli offensive following the recent US midterm elections.
Nader Zaki, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman, highlighted that the ministers discussed various regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and preventing a return to war. Zaki emphasized the severe political, economic, and humanitarian repercussions the conflict has had on the region and the global stage. Both ministers agreed on the necessity of taking steps to prevent the resumption of military operations and to promote a political resolution through negotiations among the involved parties.
