Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mali Mr. Abdoulaye Diop discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and counterterrorism efforts in the Sahel region.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, stated that Minister Badr Abdelatty praised the momentum in relations between the two countries and the mutual commitment to strengthening these ties and elevating them to broader horizons.
Badr Abdelatty expressed Egypt's aspiration to deepen economic, trade, and investment cooperation in line with the Malian government's action plan, particularly in sectors where Egyptian companies possess significant expertise, most notably construction and infrastructure, electricity and renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural and food processing.
Badr Abdelatty also reviewed the programs offered by Egypt through national institutions and Al-Azhar missions, in addition to training courses provided by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding in the field of combating terrorism and extremism.
Badr Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's readiness to continue supporting Mali with its accumulated expertise within the framework of Egypt's comprehensive approach to combating terrorism, which combines security, development, and intellectual aspects.
In the same context, the Foreign Minister stressed Egypt's full support for efforts aimed at eliminating terrorist organizations in Central and West Africa, and for continuing to build the capacities and personnel of national institutions to combat terrorism and achieve comprehensive development in the Sahel region.
The two ministers concluded the call by affirming their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and coordination between their countries in various fields, in order to support security, stability, and development in Mali, the Sahel region, and the African continent.
