Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed on Monday, September 21, 2026, with Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Tamim Khalaf ways to strengthen health cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon and follow up on joint areas of cooperation. Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to developing bilateral health cooperation, highlighting the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut's role in facilitating coordination between the relevant authorities and following up on priority health issues.According to State Information Service Egypt, Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting reviewed the draft memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian and Lebanese health ministries. The draft has undergone legal and technical review, with the necessary amendments incorporated, while Egyptian approvals and procedures are being completed ahead of coordination with the Lebanese side and the embassy on the final text and signing arrangements.The memorandum covers cooperation in prima ry and comprehensive healthcare, health crisis and emergency management, training and capacity building for medical, nursing and administrative staff, prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and digital health and e-health applications. The spokesperson also highlighted continued Egyptian support for Lebanon's healthcare sector, including the delivery of about 10 tons of medicines and medical supplies in August, in addition to nearly 3 tons of medical aid and supplies prepared in March.
