Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Kenya's Health Minister Aden Bare Doley to discuss expanding bilateral health cooperation and strengthening Africa's pharmaceutical security.According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks focused on boosting local production of medicines and vaccines, supporting the African Pooled Procurement Mechanism (APPM), and enhancing collaboration between Egyptian and Kenyan pharmaceutical companies. Abdel Ghaffar highlighted Egypt's progress in pharmaceutical regulation and the role of Vaccines and Biotechnology City, which is expected to meet around 22% of Africa's vaccine needs.The two sides also discussed cooperation in rare diseases, cancer care, medical training, and universal health insurance, as well as expanding medical tourism through Egypt's 'Tour 4 Cure' platform. The meeting concluded with a review of Egypt's healthcare infrastructure and emergency management capabilities.
