Cairo: Bajel Projects Limited, an Indian engineering, procurement, and construction company under the Bajaj Group, has inked a significant contract exceeding $40 million with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). This agreement entails the construction of two sections of a 500kV overhead transmission line, marking a pivotal development in the power transmission sector.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the contract was formalized by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bajel Projects, and Mona Rizk, Chairwoman of the EETC, during a ceremony witnessed by Indian Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy. The ambassador highlighted that this agreement underscores the growing trust in Indian enterprises and the robust economic ties between Egypt and India. Bajel Projects is a key player within the Bajaj Group, an industrial conglomerate with a valuation of approximately $40 billion.

Rajesh Ganesh emphasized that this contract represents a landmark achievement for Bajel Projects, as it embarks on its inaugural 500kV transmission line venture in the Middle East and North Africa region. This project not only extends Bajel's operational footprint in the region but also aligns with Egypt's strategic initiative to enhance its high-voltage power grid. The upgrade aims to improve grid reliability and meet the surging energy demands driven by economic and industrial growth.
