Egypt and Denmark Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Renewable Energy Sector

Cairo: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with Denmark's ambassador to Egypt, Lars Bo M¸ller, to discuss enhancing cooperation in the field of clean and renewable energy. During the meeting, they explored ways to foster collaboration and create new opportunities for Danish companies in line with Egypt's national energy strategy.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Electricity Minister emphasized the strong relations between Egypt and Denmark, highlighting the importance of expanding joint efforts in renewable energy. Esmat discussed ongoing initiatives to localize the production of electrical equipment for solar and wind energy, as well as projects aimed at bolstering the power grid, all in alignment with the national energy strategy.

Egypt is aiming for renewable energy to account for more than 42% of its electricity mix by 2030 and 65% by 2040. Esmat stressed the significance of training programs and expertise exchange, identifying the private sector as a crucial partner in renewable energy projects. He reiterated the Egyptian government's commitment to the electricity sector as part of its sustainable development plan.

Esmat also pointed out Egypt's abundant renewable energy sources, particularly solar and wind power, and highlighted the country's efforts to maximize these resources' returns. The government has implemented measures to create an attractive investment climate and to boost private sector involvement in clean and renewable energy.

The Danish ambassador commended Egypt's electricity sector expertise and underscored the importance of continued collaboration in renewable energy. M¸ller expressed Denmark's eagerness to encourage Danish companies to invest in clean and renewable energy projects in Egypt.
