Cairo: The Egyptian-Chadian Business Forum recently engaged in pivotal discussions to enhance economic and investment cooperation between Egypt and Chad, with a particular focus on broadening civil aviation partnerships. These discussions aimed to improve air connectivity and boost passenger and cargo transport between the two nations.According to State Information Service Egypt, these talks were part of the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee, held in N'Djamena, Chad's capital. The session saw participation from various ministers, officials, and business representatives from both countries, reflecting a concerted effort to strengthen bilateral relations.In alignment with the political leadership's directives to bolster Egypt's ties with African nations, the Egyptian delegation included Captain Sameh Mohamed Fawzy, head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA), and pilot Karim Gamil, adviser to the ECAA chairman. Discussions with Chad's Transport Minister, Fatime Goukouni Weddeye , focused on facilitating airline operations and overcoming existing challenges to increase air traffic.Significant agreements emerged from these talks, including a decision to double the operational capacity for passenger transport and increase air cargo capacity by 125 percent. These measures are anticipated to support the growth in travel and trade between Egypt and Chad, aligning with the expected rise in demand.Further agreements were reached to maintain technical coordination and exchange expertise, enhancing operational efficiency within the civil aviation sector. A memorandum of understanding on civil aviation was signed, establishing a framework for future collaboration and development.These developments highlight the critical role of civil aviation in regional integration, promoting trade, investment, and connectivity across Africa. The cooperation between Egypt and Chad serves as a key step in advancing their shared interests and supporting broader development efforts on the continent.
