New Alamein:Egypt and Chad have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biological products, and medical supplies. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and Dr. Abdel Magid Abdel Rahim Mohamed, Chad's Minister of Public Health and Prevention.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the signing ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty. From Chad, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad Ahmed Kourgi attended, along with Ambassador Mohamed Karim Sherif, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs.
The MoU is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Egypt and Chad, with a focus on expanding their partnership in the health and pharmaceutical sectors. The agreement includes provisions for the exchange of technical and regulatory expertise, enhancing regulatory capabilities, and improving practices related to the safety, quality, and efficacy of medical products to support joint pharmaceutical integration.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the African Summit and Forum in New Alamein, which was attended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and numerous African leaders and officials. Representatives from international economic institutions, organizations, and the business community were also present.
The EDA Chairman's participation highlights the authority's commitment to fostering cooperation with African nations, strengthening coordination and collaboration frameworks in the pharmaceutical sector, and exchanging technical and regulatory expertise to bolster pharmaceutical integration and open new avenues for cooperation between Egypt and African countries.
