Egypt Aims to Bolster Ties with India in Digitalization and Infrastructure Financing

Cairo: Egypt's Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk emphasized the country's intent to deepen its cooperation with India, particularly in digitalization, infrastructure financing, and climate action. His remarks came during a meeting with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the BRICS meetings in India. Kouchouk highlighted the shared goals of both nations in advancing their development agendas.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Kouchouk stressed the importance of collaborative efforts with India to amplify the voice of the Global South. He advocated for building a more balanced and equitable economic system. The discussions also focused on increasing trade and investment flows, with Kouchouk inviting Indian companies to explore the investment opportunities and incentives available in Egypt's private sector.

Kouchouk underscored the value of exchanging expertise with India in developing tax and fiscal policies aimed at stimulating economic activity. He noted Egypt's commitment to fostering a new generation of skilled tax professionals through initiatives within the BRICS framework.

Furthermore, Kouchouk expressed optimism about the New Development Bank's potential to provide concessional and affordable financing, addressing the development needs of emerging economies.
