Tianjin: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, met with Ms. Qingyun Kong, Chairwoman of Jiangsu Fenghai New Energy Seawater Desalination Development Co., Ltd, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Plus (SCO+) summit in Tianjin, China. Madbouly expressed Egypt's intention to enhance collaboration with Chinese firms in the desalination sector, emphasizing Jiangsu Fenghai's recommendation by President Xi Jinping during a prior meeting.According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly highlighted Egypt's pressing demand for seawater desalination capabilities and the strategic goal of localizing the production of desalination plant components. Egypt aims to achieve a daily production capacity of 10 million cubic meters over the next five to six years.Chairwoman Kong showcased Jiangsu Fenghai's desalination technology, which currently produces 10,000 cubic meters daily. This system, powered by renewable energy, can be expanded to satisfy Egypt's increasing needs . Madbouly suggested further discussions between Egyptian authorities and the company to investigate potential cooperation in developing the country's desalination infrastructure.
