Cairo: The Ministry of Education has entered into a cooperation protocol with the Elsewedy Electric Foundation to establish and manage eight Egyptian-German Applied Technology Schools. This initiative aims to enhance vocational education by aligning it with international standards and the demands of the labor market.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif and Elsewedy Electric Foundation Chairman Ahmed Elsewedy signed the agreement on Monday, July 20, 2026. This collaboration is a part of Egypt's strategic plan to modernize technical education through stronger partnerships with industry and a focus on competency-based learning.

The new schools will integrate Egypt's Applied Technology Schools model with Germany's dual vocational training system. They will offer programs in various fields such as mechatronics, industrial mechanics, electrical engineering, CNC machining, automotive maintenance, HVAC, logistics, information technology, and healthcare.

Students enrolled in these schools will be awarded a diploma approved by the Ministry of Education, along with an industry-recognized certificate issued by the Elsewedy Electric Foundation, upon the completion of practical training.

The agreement also outlines collaborative efforts to secure accreditation for the schools, implement transparent student admissions processes, and recruit qualified teaching staff. Additionally, the Elsewedy Electric Foundation will have a role in developing curricula that meet labor market needs. Practical training will be conducted at Elsewedy Electric facilities or other accredited training centers.
