Frankfurt: As part of the efforts of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) to enhance cooperation and integration between the Egyptian-German business communities, the commercial office in Berlin, represented by Commercial Attaché Mustafa Hassan, in coordination with Ambassador Amin Hassan, Consul General in Frankfurt, visited the Egyptian companies exhibiting at Heim Textil 2026. The event will be held in Frankfurt from January 13-16, 2026, and is the world's leading trade fair for home furnishings, carpets, and commercial furnishings. The fair is also a global platform for networking between textile producers across Europe.According to State Information Service Egypt, this year's edition features more than 3,000 exhibiting companies representing more than 66 countries, covering fields including interior design textiles, decorative furniture fabrics, home furnishings, and carpets of all kinds. The Egyptian participation this year was notable, with about 26 companies participating on a total area of 1900 sq uare meters. The products ranged from home furnishings, blankets, bedspreads and linens, curtains, and kitchen furnishings, in addition to carpets of various types, whether pressed, woven, or high quality.The Oriental Weavers Group, in particular, received widespread acceptance and appreciation from visitors and businessmen during the first day of the exhibition, especially in the fields of printed, pressed, woven, and high-quality carpets. Within the framework of coordination with the Export Council for Home Furnishings, the ECS Office in Berlin prepared specialized marketing studies for the benefit of Egyptian companies participating in the field of home furnishings. These studies aim to highlight the features of the German market, identify consumer preferences and taste characteristics with regard to home furnishings and carpets, and determine the specifications of suitable products, appropriate packaging methods, and the certifications required for these products to access European markets.The ECS Off ice also conducted promotional activities for the participating Egyptian companies before the exhibition, introducing these companies and their products to the business communities and relevant parties in the German market, thus contributing to enhancing the opportunities for Egyptian presence and increasing its competitiveness in this important market.The importance and sustainability of regular Egyptian participation in this prominent international event are noteworthy, not only to promote leading Egyptian products in the furniture sector but also to enhance communication with potential customers in various European markets and to learn about the latest technological developments and industry trends in this sector.Representatives of Egyptian companies highlighted the importance of having a presence in this sector across various European markets, where many Egyptian products are already present in the German market as well as other European markets such as Spain, Italy, Cyprus, and Greece. Several partic ipating Egyptian companies expressed their desire to have an Egyptian pavilion in the next edition of the exhibition, similar to the pavilions of the various participating countries.In this regard, Mr. Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, Head of the ECS, indicated that there is a noticeable improvement in Egyptian-German bilateral economic relations in general and development in the textiles and carpets sector in particular. According to data issued by the German Federal Statistical Office, Egyptian exports of furniture to Germany reached approximately pound 26.75 million during the period from January to September 2025, representing an increase of about 8% compared to the same period in 2024. Egyptian exports of carpets during the period from January to September 2025 amounted to approximately 20.69 million euros, which is an increase of approximately 23% compared to the same period in 2024, which amounted to approximately 16.84 million euros.
