Nairobi: Commercial Counselor Karim Hamdy, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Office in Nairobi, and Ambassador Hatem Yousry, Egypt's Ambassador to Kenya inaugurated Egypt's pavilion at the Big 5 Construct Kenya 2025 exhibition and conference, held at the Sarit Exhibition Centre in Nairobi from November 5 to 7, 2025.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the exhibition is one of East Africa's largest events in construction and infrastructure, featuring over 151 international companies. Among these, 12 leading Egyptian firms are showcasing products ranging from building materials and modern construction solutions to marble, ceramics, and firefighting systems.

The Egyptian pavilion has attracted significant interest from visitors and business delegations, with several B2B meetings organized to explore partnerships and expand trade cooperation.

Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, stated that trade exchange between Egypt and Kenya reached USD 539.4 million by the end of 2024, marking a 1.3% increase between 2017 and 2024. He noted that Egyptian exports rose to USD 333.1 million, with products such as tissue paper, steel, pasta, and electronic displays leading the way, while imports from Kenya declined to USD 206.3 million.

El-Sherif emphasized that Egypt's participation in the exhibition supports the government's strategy to boost exports to African markets and strengthen the presence of Egyptian companies in East Africa, with Kenya serving as a vital gateway for regional trade.
