Berlin: As part of the Egyptian Commercial Service's (ECS) ongoing efforts to strengthen economic, trade, and investment relations between Egypt and Germany, the Egyptian Trade Office in Berlin, headed by Minister Plenipotentiary for Trade Maha Zakaria, organized an official visit to North Rhine-Westphalia, with the participation of Ambassador Dr. Mohamed El-Badry, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Germany.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the visit included a series of high-level meetings with the President of the Dsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the President of the Dsseldorf Trade Fair Authority, the Minister of Federal, European, International Affairs, media, and the State Minister of Economics. A roundtable was held with a number of business associations and German companies interested in investing in the Egyptian market.
The visit resulted in an agreement to hold the second session of the economic summit between Egypt and North Rhine-Westphalia in the middle of next year in Cairo, headed by the Minister of Federal, European, International Affairs and Media, accompanied by a delegation of German businessmen interested in expanding into the Egyptian market. It was also agreed to begin preparations for this summit in the coming period, reflecting the growing importance of economic relations between the two sides.
They also decided that an exploratory delegation of German companies will visit Egypt next December, as part of preparations for the summit and to strengthen direct communication channels between the business communities of the two countries.
In this context, the Minister Plenipotentiary for Trade, Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif stated that German investments in Egypt increased by 3.5%, reaching approximately $3 billion by the end of February 2025, compared to $2.9 billion in June 2024. The number of German companies operating in Egypt also increased to 1,738, compared to 1,609 previously. He emphasized that these indicators reflect growing confidence in the Egyptian market.
