Container Ship CMA CGM ZEPHYR Successfully Crosses Suez Canal

Suez canal: Container ship CMA CGM ZEPHYR crossed the Suez Canal on Saturday, July 19, 2025, as part of the northbound convoy on its journey from Singapore to the Port of Alexandria.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Suez Canal Authority announced that this voyage marks the 10th crossing of container ships through the canal following the success of the authority's recently adopted flexible marketing policies and incentives aiming to attract ships to return to transit through the canal.

A 15% discount is granted to container ships with a net tonnage exceeding 130,000 tons, whether loaded or empty, for three months from the enforcement date of the circular No. (3/2025).

The vessel CMA CGM ZEPHYR, flying the Maltese flag, led the navigation movement from the south. The ship is 366 meters long, 51 meters wide, with a draft of 53 feet, a total tonnage of 164,000 tons, and is carrying 11,800 containers.

Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, asserted that the canal continues to provide its navigation services and take all necessary measures to maintain the regularity of traffic, despite tensions in the Red Sea region.
