CCCPA and Cameroon’s NDDRC Collaborate on Disarmament Training in Yaound©

Yaounde: Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), in collaboration with Cameroon's National Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Committee (NDDRC), organized a training course focusing on a comprehensive and integrated approach to disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration in Yaound©.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed last November by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Cameroonian counterpart. The three-day training aimed to enhance the skills of Cameroonian personnel engaged in disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration efforts. The course addressed various concepts related to their field of work, such as peacebuilding and the prevention and combat of violent extremism.

Additionally, the course emphasized designing processes that consider the needs of women and youth. The opening ceremony saw the attendance of Chenmoun Oumara, Secretary-General of the Cameroonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francis Fa Yengo, National Coordinator of the Cameroonian NDDRC, the Japanese ambassador to Cameroon, and several heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats. The UN resident coordinator in Cameroon and representatives from various UN agencies were also present.
