Cairo: Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom engaged in discussions on August 23, 2026, aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing the development of Al-Azhar's education system.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions emphasized the importance of closer coordination among state institutions to enhance public services. Al-Tayeb highlighted that developing Al-Azhar's educational system remains a priority due to the institution's significant educational and cultural contributions.

The dialogue also explored future projects such as upgrading Al-Azhar institutes, establishing new faculties at Al-Azhar University, and expanding student accommodation. The planning minister expressed the government's commitment to supporting Al-Azhar's development plans and improving its infrastructure and services.
