Abdelatty and Kombos Call for Enhanced Efforts to Reduce Regional Tensions

Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos emphasized the necessity of ongoing coordination and intensified efforts to mitigate regional tensions and foster security and stability.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussion took place during a phone call between the two ministers as part of their regular coordination and consultation to strengthen bilateral relations. Minister Abdelatty expressed hope for advancing bilateral ties by opening wider avenues for cooperation in multiple fields, particularly in economic and trade sectors.

Additionally, Abdelatty expressed appreciation for Cyprus' support for Egypt in various European Union institutions, particularly concerning the European financial package offered to Egypt. The ministers reaffirmed the importance of monitoring the outcomes of the 10th summit of the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece, which Egypt hosted last January, to benefit the three allied nations.

During the conversation, they also shared perspectives on several regional and international issues of mutual interest. Abdelatty briefed Kombos on Egypt's initiatives to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid.
