Brussels: 22 new projects involving 105 organizations from Ukraine have been recommended for funding under the European Union Erasmus+ Programme for Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education Action (CBHE) in 2026. This year, 180 projects proposed for funding include the participation of over 1,639 higher education stakeholders from almost 116 countries. Ukraine ranks among the top five leaders by the number of projects recommended for funding. According to European Union, the new projects for Ukraine focus on European approaches to sustainable development in higher education, education resilience and post-war rebuilding, green and digital transitions, water and climate resilience, modernization of STEAM education, sustainable materials engineering, eco design and resilient manufacturing technology, smart mobility, good governance, social impact learning, resilient and inclusive communities, research management excellence, sustainable entrepreneurship for reconstruction and internationalization, dual education, and more. Projects are categorized based on their impact and the experience of partners into three strands: 1) Fostering access to cooperation, 2) Partnerships for Transformation, and 3) Structural reforms. Among the funded projects, there are 15 national, 4 regional, and 3 cross-regional projects. The project teams include 194 partners from 29 countries: 79 partners from Programme Countries and 27 from Partner Countries, representing a wide range of nations including Armenia, Azerbaijan, and others. The 105 partners from Ukraine include 61 higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, the National Qualification Agency, and 10 other organizations, including IT clusters, scientific and methodological centers, NGOs, and business organizations. Ten Ukrainian universities serve as 11 project grantholders-coordinators, including National University Kyiv Aviation Institute, Lviv Polytechnic National Universi ty, and others. Sixty higher education institutions from Ukraine represent a diverse range of disciplines and institutions, including state, communal, and private entities from various cities. Seven partnerships include six relocated universities from temporarily occupied territories. The highest number of projects were received by Dnipro University of Technology, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and National N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, among others. Since 2015, Erasmus+ calls have funded 140 CBHE projects by the EU for Ukraine, contributing to higher education reforms, Eurointegration processes, and building a new Ukraine based on innovations and best practices from EU Member States. Erasmus+ is the European Union Programme that supports educational, professional, and personal development through lifelong learning. It offers opportunities for learning mobility, projects, partnerships, policy development, and cooperation, with nearly 40 calls for proposals open to various types of organizat ions from Ukraine.
