Fares Hamoudeh, head of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry, announced an increase in industrial exports to the Zarqa and Mafraq governorates during September, reaching $180.3 million. This marks an impressive growth rate of 83% compared to $98.2 million in the same month last year.
Hamoudeh noted that total industrial exports for the chamber in the first nine months of 2024 amounted to $1.145 billion, reflecting a 24% increase over the $927 million reported during the same period last year.
Exports from Zarqa and Mafraq to North American countries led the surge, totaling $572.6 million, which constitutes 50% of total exports and represents a 41% growth from the previous year. The United States alone accounted for $542 million of these exports, showing an increase of 42%, while exports to Canada rose by 26%, reaching $27 million.
In the Arab market, exports grew by 6%, totaling $397.3 million. The Iraqi market was the largest recipient, with exports amounting to $148.7 million, reflecting a substantial 52% growt
h compared to the previous year. However, exports to Saudi Arabia saw a decline of 11%, totaling $90.9 million.
Hamoudeh emphasized that the leather and textile industries sector achieved a qualitative leap, with exports of $628.14 million during the first nine months of this year, representing a 39% increase year-over-year. The food, agricultural, and livestock industries experienced a growth of 23%, reaching $198.27 million.
He underscored that the significant growth in industrial exports from Zarqa and Mafraq highlights the continued strength of various economic sectors, enhancing Jordan’s position on the global trade map.
