Zamalek won the Egyptian League title 2021/2022, on Tuesday 23/8/2022 taking advantage of the 1-0 defeat of Pyramids against its host Future, in the 32nd round of the Egyptian League.
Zamalek has 75 points at the top of the competition from 31 games, while Pyramids’ balance froze at 68 points in second place from 31 games.
Thus, all Pyramids’ hopes for the title end, and Zamalek crowned champions.
Zamalek entered the season without new signings with the restriction suspended, but it overcame the circumstances and won the league title.
Zamalek started the season with French coach Patrice Carteron, before he left and was replaced by Portuguese Josevaldo Ferreira.
Zamalek reached the 14th title in its history in the Egyptian League, after: 1960, 1964, 1965, 1978, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1993, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2015, 2021.
For the second consecutive season, Zamalek retained its title, an achievement for the fourth time in its history.
Ferreira, coach of Zamalek, won his second title in the Egyptian League, after 2015 in his first term with Al-Abyad.
Captain Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala” added his fourth title in the league championship after 2003, 2004 and 2021.
Shikabala became the historical record holder in the league crowning with Zamalek, equal to Ashraf Qassem, Gamal Abdel Hamid, Hisham Yakan, Ismail Youssef and Khaled Al-Ghandour.
Zamalek won 24 matches, drew 3, and lost only 4, to win the title at the expense of Pyramids and Al-Ahly.
Zamalek will face Al Ittihad of Alexandria at Cairo Stadium on Tuesday evening, then meet Al-Masry in the 33rd round, and then Eastern Company in the last round.
