Cairo: The World Urban Forum (WUF) is set to hold a roundtable session on Thursday, October 31, 2024, focusing on the roles of parliamentarians in urban development. This event will take place on the sidelines of the 12th session of the WUF, scheduled to be hosted in Cairo from November 4-8.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the roundtable meeting aims to address the contributions of lawmakers in enacting regulations, adopting policies, providing financing, and establishing partnerships that have direct impacts on cities and societies. These efforts are crucial in overcoming urban challenges faced by many communities.
The 12th session of the forum, known as WUF12, is convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat). This marks a significant return to the African continent for the forum, which was first established in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002. WUF12 aims to focus on localizing the Sustainable Development Goals by highlighting local actions and initiatives necessary to tackle g
