WHO representative, AWIU delegation discuss promoting medical tourism in Egypt


WHO representative in Egypt Nima Saeed Abid had a meeting on Friday 9/8/2024 with a delegation from the Arab Women Investors Union (AWIU), led by Hoda Yassa, to discuss boosting bilateral cooperation through outlining integrated action plans, and enhancing joint coordination and cooperation.

During their meeting, the WHO official stressed the importance of cooperation with NGOs and the private sector to achieve the organization’s vision.

Abid presented a vision on her action plan as a WHO representative in Egypt in the coming period to promote medical tourism and support the healthcare system in Egypt.

She further noted that the mission of the WHO is to promote health and maintain the safety of the world.

For her part, the AWIE chairperson posted Abid on her union’s goals, working mechanisms and activities since its establishment in 2005.

She also underlined the protocols and agreements signed by the Union with many international bodies, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO
), noting that it was the first civil society organization to sign a cooperation protocol with the United Nations.

The Union also signed agreements with the Egyptian state bodies, including the Finance Ministry, Yassa added.

Yassa also extended an invitation to the WHO representative in Egypt to participate in its 27th conference, to be held under the theme “Arab-African investment and international cooperation”.

The conference is scheduled to be held in Aswan governorate from November 11 to 15.
