DUBAI: The 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2024 will host numerous global companies specialising in digital transformation and smart net-zero buildings.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organises WETEX annually under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The 26th WETEX will take place from 1st to 3rd October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
‘WETEX supports the efforts to promote digital infrastructure readiness for the future worldwide. It encourages the investment in Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, digital transformation, and exploring opportunities and challenges facing future models in various fields. This aims to ensure a greener and more sustainable future, and provide the best quality of life. The exhibition promotes the UAE’s leadership
in driving global change and mobilises efforts to develop, adopt and empower proactive and innovative solutions,” Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
By hosting major local and international companies specialising in digitisation, green buildings, smart grids and smart cities, WETEX reinforces Dubai’s position as a global capital of digital economy, and making it the happiest and smartest city in the world,’ he added.
‘DEWA, in partnership with Digital Dubai, provides cloud services to government entities in Dubai through Moro Cloud, which operates as per the highest local and international security standards. Moro Hub is a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA. Moro’s advanced services aim to support government and private organisations in their digital transformation journeys in the UAE and the Middle East. Moro Cloud accelerates digital transformation, foster innovation and reduces costs. Moro Cloud helps accelerate this process while promoting in
novation and reducing costs. It is managed through green carbon-neutral local data centres, which will help government organisations achieve their carbon-neutrality goals,’ Al Tayer further added.
DEWA has developed a smart grid infrastructure that provides many environmental and economic benefits. These grids improve the efficiency of energy transmission and distribution, reduce losses and improve electrical load management. Smart grids also support the integration of renewable energy sources into the electrical grid, which enhances the sustainability of Dubai’s energy system. The seamless, swift and effective operation of the smart grid has enabled DEWA to achieve competitive results that surpass prominent European and American companies in terms of efficiency and reliability.
DEWA has set unprecedented global standards in the energy and water sectors, and has taken the top position globally in more than 10 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in its areas of work, according to a study conducted last year by
a specialised international consultant. DEWA has recorded the lowest electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) worldwide, at 1.06 minutes, compared with about 15 minutes recorded by leading utility companies in the European Union. DEWA has also reduced losses in electricity transmission and distribution networks to 2% and water network losses to 4.6 percent, one of the lowest worldwide.
The Distribution Network Smart Centre works as a centralised automated hub and repository that gathers, monitors and analyses data from the smart initiative devices installed in the distribution power network. It provides a real-time view and assessment on the current situation and conducts diagnostic analysis to find effective and proactive solutions. It checks and analyses the performance of each smart meter, solar system and electric vehicle charging station on a daily basis. It employs algorithms and coding to conduct detailed analysis and reporting.
