DUBAI: Day Three of the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) hosted 44 specialised seminars and discussion panels delivered by a group of leading global experts and specialists.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised WETEX under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

The 26th edition of WETEX took place from 1st to 3rd October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

DEWA organised a seminar on ‘Utilities Trends and Innovation’ in Arena 1, with the participation of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA, Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions), Bidgely, NAFFCO, Dell Technologies, Intel and the AW Rostamani Group. The seminar was moderated by Maisa Eid, a journalist with CNBC Arabia.

Day Three at WETEX presented a host of Main Seminars, including ‘Clean Energy’, ‘Navigating th
e EV Revolution’, ‘The Distribution Revolution’, ‘Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Conservation’, ‘Prefabricated 33/11KV Primary Substations – A Project Case Study’, ‘Leveraging AI for Utilities’, ‘Edge Compute – The Future of Low Voltage Management’, ‘Environmental Friendly Cables as Alternative to Lead Sheath Cables’, ‘Industrial Applications of Dry-type Transformers’, and ‘From Confusion to Fusion – Next-Generation SCADA Systems’.

The sessions on the third day of the Future Energy Landscape Forum, held on the sidelines of WETEX, were titled ‘Dragon Oil’s Waste Management Initiatives and Opportunities’, ‘Innovations in Waste Management for OandG’, ‘Transforming Waste Challenges into Opportunities in OandG’ and ‘Emerging Technologies in OandG Waste Management’.

The Clean Energy Business Council MENA presented an introduction on clean energy, followed by a presentation by DEWA on E-Mobility. Day Three also offered diverse sessions, including ‘Transforming Transportation: Electrification and Beyond’, ‘S
ustainable Mobility: Trends and Innovations for the Future of Transportation’, ‘Future Outlook – ESG Pathways and Strategies Toward a Carbon-Neutral Economy’, ‘How LoRa Alliance® and LoRaWAN® Support Sustainable Water and Energy’, ‘Maintaining Invest-ability in an Evolving Development Landscape’ and ‘Innovative Strategies for Climate-Resilience and Water Management: Advancing Sustainability and Security in a Changing Climate’.

Water Seminars on Day Three revolved around ‘Supplying Drinking Water to Remote Areas’, ‘Revolutionising Water Sustainability by Atmospheric Water Generation’, ‘Korean Water Partnership (KWP) Sludge Treatment, Eco-friendly Sterilisation Solutions, Water Hammer’, ‘The Role of Sodium Chloride in Water Treatment’, ‘A New Line of Water Quality Control Digital Sensors, Probes and Measuring Devices for Environmental and Industrial Applications’ and ‘Innovative Bio Fouling Monitoring Technology – mBFR’.

On the third day of the exhibition, the Health and Safety Hub hosted seminars on ‘Driving
Continual Improvement from Conventional to Innovational Approaches in Health and Safety’, ‘Road Transport and Traffic Safety / ISO 39001:2012’, ‘Construction Safety’, ‘Why Occupational Diseases are Overlooked?’, ‘UAE’s Regulatory Impact in Preventing Serious Incidents and Accidents’, ‘Physical and Mental Well-being at the Workplace’, ‘Safety Assessment’, ‘Occupational Safety’, ‘Water System Safety’, ‘Home Safety – A Risk Perspective’, ‘Occupational Health’ and ‘Water and Electrical Safety’.

The SRM sessions on Day three covered the topics of ‘DEWA’s Environmental Overview’, ‘DEWA’s Engagement with SME Suppliers in co-ordination with SME Management’, and ‘DEWA’s Transparency in dealing with Suppliers’.
