The Emirates News Agency (WAM) participated in the 6th China-Arab States Broadcasting and Television Cooperation Forum, which was held in Hangzhou, the capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province, on Sunday.

In a keynote speech titled “Technological Empowerment: Promoting Integrated Technology in the Media,” Abdullah Abdulkarim, Acting Executive Director of the News Content Sector at WAM, emphasised the vital importance of deepening media and news collaboration between Arab and Chinese entities, thereby fostering cultural exchange and facilitating a dialogue between civilisations. He specifically highlighted the potential of joint programmes in radio, television, and news exchange as instrumental in achieving this critical objective.

In his remarks, Abdulkarim underscored the critical role of technology in empowering both Arab and Chinese media landscapes. He highlighted the significant contributions of communication tools, institutional strategies, and smart systems in enabling this empowerment.

These tech
nological advancements, he stressed, facilitate the development of capabilities, enhance necessary skills, and ultimately streamline the exchange of information across various linguistic barriers.

In light of the rapid advancements witnessed in the technology sector, the pervasiveness of social media applications, and the burgeoning influence of smart artificial software, Abdulkarim underscored the urgency of embracing these technologies and capitalising on their vast potential.

‘Strengthening strategic media cooperation between the Arab world and China will be instrumental in driving integrated development in the media landscape,’ he said. ‘By leveraging advanced technologies, this enhanced collaboration will serve societies, promote the well-being of people, and meet the diverse informational needs and aspirations of individuals across all sectors and segments.’

The forum, established in 2011 as a significant initiative within the China-Arab cooperation framework, welcomed over 300 delegates from both re
gions.
