HANOI: The 23rd Lao Handicraft Festival will be held in Vientiane to promote traditional handicraft products as well as to create a festive atmosphere in the city for tourists during the Visit Laos Year 2024, the Vietnam New Agency (VNA) reported today.
In a statement carried by VNA, the Lao national TV reported that the event will be held from 26th October to 3rd November to celebrate the Lao National Handicraft Day on 1st November.
It will also celebrate the recognition of Laos’s traditional craft of Naga motif weaving by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
It will create an opportunity for local communities and buyers to visit, purchase, and experience the diversity of Lao handicraft products, showcasing the skills of Lao artisans as well as promoting products by local artisans and handicraft entrepreneurs from all over the country.
In addition, the festival will support the Lao government policy of allev
iating poverty and creating more linkages with other ASEAN members in terms of handicrafts.
