New York – Ma’an – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Saturday that it has “nearly 200 schools in the Gaza Strip, all of which have been closed since last October, and many of which were used as shelters for the displaced throughout the war.”
The UN agency indicated, in a post on its account on the “X” platform, that “in some of these schools, UNRWA teams are working to return thousands of children to learning through recreational activities and psychosocial support.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, the occupying power, has been waging a devastating war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 135,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
