UN Official Praises Egypt’s Selection as Host for World Urban Forum.


Cairo: David Dodman, General Director of the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), has praised Egypt’s selection as the host for the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF).

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dodman commended Egypt for being chosen to host the forum, highlighting the country’s active involvement in key issues central to the forum’s research and discussions, such as green building and climate change response. He acknowledged that Egypt has already initiated steps in these areas and expressed appreciation for the organization of the international event.

Dodman emphasized that the forum presents an excellent opportunity for numerous individuals interested in city establishment. Running from November 4 to 8, the WUF12 aims to localize the Sustainable Development Goals by highlighting local actions and initiatives needed to address current global challenges, including unaffordable housing, rising living costs, clim
ate change, lack of basic services, and ongoing conflicts.
