UN, Int’l Partners Commit to Supporting Egypt’s Economic Vision.


Cairo: Representatives of United Nations agencies and international institutions have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Egyptian government’s vision toward promoting economic development and reinforcing macroeconomic stability. This commitment was expressed during an extensive meeting held by Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat with UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova and representatives from around 20 UN agencies, as well as delegates from the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting involved discussions on the economic development framework, investment governance measures, and future priorities for enhancing economic development efforts. Minister Mashat reviewed the sustainability and financing framework for economic development, which is designed to reflect the integration between planning, economic development, and international cooperation. This framework aims to dr
aw pathways for sustainable growth and translate national strategies into impactful development projects across different sectors.

Mashat highlighted the state’s efforts in governing public investments, explaining the structure of public investments in the economic and social development plan for fiscal year 2024/2025. The plan allocates 42% to human and social development, 37% to industrial and infrastructure development, and 21% to local development.

Elena Panova reiterated the UN’s commitment, along with its agencies, to supporting the Egyptian government’s efforts across various fields by leveraging expertise, resources, and coordination between national priorities and the international agenda. Representatives from the Islamic Development Bank, the World Bank, and specialized UN agencies emphasized the ministry’s efforts in achieving integration between the planning system and international cooperation to support economic development. They also expressed their commitment to sustaining collaboration to
advance mutual relations.
