ABU DHABI: The UAE Cybersecurity Council announced today the completion of a new series of specialised training courses within the ‘Cyber Sniper’ initiative, a comprehensive cybersecurity training programme designed to develop UAE government employees’ knowledge and skills in the ever-evolving cybersecurity field.
Launched by the Cybersecurity Council last year in partnership with the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and carried out by leading international cyber security partners, such as SANS, EC-Council, Offsec, and CyberGate Defense, the Cyber Sniper initiative is a key element of the council’s comprehensive strategy to secure the country’s digital infrastructure, support secure digital transformation, and increase government entities’ readiness to thwart emerging cyber threats and develop their capabilities to counter them.
Participants were trained in ‘ethical hacking’ and cybersecurity protocols, with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand cyber-attack methods and tec
hniques, and how to test information systems and networks for vulnerabilities.
Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, emphasised that the Cyber Sniper initiative embodies the country’s unwavering commitment to being a global leader in cybersecurity. He added, “This initiative contributes to building a strong national workforce in the field of cybersecurity, capable of protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure and effectively countering evolving cyber threats.”
The initiative is one of the key pillars in the implementation plan of the Council’s strategy in line with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, to secure the digital infrastructure in the country, support safe digital transformation, and boost the readiness and capabilities of government agencies to confront and thwart emerging cyber threats.
