A delegation from the UAE Supreme Audit Institution, headed by its President Humaid Obaid Abushibs, recently attended the 77th Governing Board meeting of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in Vienna, Austria.
The agenda of the meeting focused on the impressive achievements of INTOSAI’s main committees, including their latest initiatives and their crucial role in supporting supreme audit and accounting institutions worldwide.
Discussions centred around improving idea exchange, knowledge sharing, and the establishment of professional audit standards. Additionally, the meeting highlighted strengthening the capabilities and operational efficiency of audit entities. The work teams and their subcommittees also presented a thorough review of their accomplishments.
Prominent topics at the meeting were the advancement of knowledge and research in auditing and accounting, sustainable development, and INTOSAI’s strategies to aid in achieving the United Nations 2030 Plan for Sustai
nable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
A representative from SAI remarked on the UAE’s participation, stating, ‘Our involvement in these meetings demonstrates our dedication to improving communication and collaboration among global audit entities to reach shared strategic objectives. We are keen on sharing experiences, knowledge, and expertise in auditing while focusing on developing institutional capabilities.’
The UAE Supreme Audit Institution also participated in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), which was held on the sidelines of the meeting, attended by dignitaries including the President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, Wolfgang Sobotka, and leaders of various Supreme Audit Institutions.
