UAE solidified its global standing in philanthropy, humanitarian work: Nahyan bin Zayed

ABU DHABI: H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, emphasised that the UAE has solidified its global standing in philanthropy and humanitarian work, thanks to the visionary leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his unwavering commitment to supporting development initiatives that benefit all.

In his remarks on the occasion of International Day of Charity, observed annually on 5th September, Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that philanthropy and humanitarian work are deeply rooted in the UAE’s culture, as these values were established by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and have been upheld by all charitable institutions in the country.

Sheikh Nahyan commended the efforts of the UAE charitable organisations, which have strengthened the nation’s global reputation in both relief and development work over the past decades.

He pointed out the ongoing efforts
of the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation to make philanthropy a pillar of sustainable development and to build a better future for generations to come. The Foundation is currently working on several new projects, including establishing a rehabilitation centre for people of determination in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The centre aims to support 5,550 children with physical disabilities, including those with mobility challenges and cerebral palsy, as well as neurological disorders. The project is expected to be completed by Q3 2026.

Additionally, the Foundation is building two schools in the Republic of Tajikistan, one in the village of Mahtar Danghara and the other in Timur Maliq district. Each school will accommodate 144 students and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Director-General of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, stated that the UAE’s charitable sector has evolved in approach and practice under the guidance of the nation’s wise leadership. ‘The U
AE’s charitable institutions have maximised their resources to support a wide range of philanthropic and development projects, benefitting millions in targeted communities and countries.’

Al Falahi also emphasised that charitable and humanitarian initiatives have become synonymous with the UAE and its people. Thanks to the country’s wise policies and the enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed, the scope and impact of these efforts have continued to expand and develop.

The Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation will mark International Day of Charity tomorrow, celebrating 32 years of global philanthropy and the embedding of charitable work into the fabric of its current and future projects. Since its establishment in 1992, the Foundation has assisted in more than 188 countries worldwide.
