DAMMAM: The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), participated in the second committee meeting of the Joint Arab Electricity Market and the second phase of the Knowledge Sharing Programme.
The event was hosted by the GCC Interconnection Authority at its headquarters in Dammam, KSA, and organised by the Arab League and the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity.
Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at MoEI, headed the UAE delegation to the meeting, which focused on plans to develop the Joint Arab Electricity Market by examining the developments and experiences of the African and European electricity markets.
Al Kaabi said, ‘The joint venture will bring a host of technical, economic, and environmental benefits. It paves the way for establishing an Arab market for electricity trading, which will improve the resilience of electricity networks against disruptions.

t electricity supply at affordable prices and meeting countries’ increasing needs for electricity due to population and industrial growth, propelling national economies by diversifying income, and enhancing their sustainable development.’
