UAE participates in BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting on sidelines of 79th UN General Assembly in New York

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE BRICS Sherpa, participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit. The Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was preceded by the BRICS Sherpa meeting.

The UAE’s participation underscores its dedication to fostering multilateral collaboration, emphasising that collective international action is crucial in addressing the challenges we face today and paving the way for a more prosperous future.

In his remarks, Ahmed Al Sayegh expressed appreciation to the Russian Federation for its leadership as the chair of BRICS this year and acknowledged Brazil’s role in organising and chairing this meeting. He highlighted the importance of effective partnerships within the international community to foster constructive dialogue and advance shared goals.

He emphasised the UAE’s successful model of economic cooperation, noting, ‘This unique experience has proven that the language of economics is the most capable of building bridges, and transforming differences into cooperation and prosperity.’
