DUBAI: Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), participated in the 10th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Labour Ministers Committee, which concluded recently in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Labour of the GCC countries and Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General.

Al Awar also took part in a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, alongside the participating ministers.

During the meeting, Al Awar affirmed the UAE’s commitment to participating in such meetings, which serve to strengthen cooperation across the Gulf region, align efforts to address shared challenges amid rapid global developments and develop a unified vision on all labour-related issues.

He went on to emphasise the critical role of the meeting as a platform for knowledge-sharing and the exchange of national best practices, which enhances the alignme
nt of labour policies and systems across GCC countries, strengthens their labour markets and boosts global competitiveness and productivity.

The meeting addressed the progress made in the private sector, as well as the outcomes of the GCC Labour Ministers Committee’s strategic initiatives, the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, maternity leave regulations in GCC states, and other topics.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Al Awar attended a special ceremony honouring companies that excelled in their localisation efforts, as well as entrepreneurs behind outstanding small businesses in GCC countries.

At the ceremony, Kawader Human Resources Consultancy LLC and Burjeel Holdings were recognised for their excellence in leading Emiratisation efforts in the UAE, while Meerana Technologies was honoured as the best small business in the country.

The ministry’s delegation included Shayma Al Awadhi, Assistant Undersecretary for Communication and International Relations; Ahmad Al Nasser, A
ssistant Undersecretary of National Human Resources Development and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Policy and Strategy, along with several Ministry officials.
