DUBAI: The governments of the UAE and the Republic of Maldives launched the Maldives Executive Leadership Programme as part of the strategic partnership in government modernisation between the two countries.

The event was attended by Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Vice President of the Maldives, and Ahmed Ali Habeeb, Principal Secretary to the President on Cabinet Affairs.

The UAE delegation featured Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and Rahma bin Abdulrahman Alshamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Maldives, along with various ministers and officials from both nations.

‘Through cooperation initiatives, our government is committed to building institutional capacity and enhancing the organisational performance of various entities in the country,’ said Hussain Mohamed Latheef. “I am confident that this programme will serve as a roadmap for the Maldives to achieve its development goals by leveraging the UAE government’s expertise and experience in modernisi
ng government work and administration.”

Abdulla Nasser Lootah highlighted the significance of the Executive Leadership Programme for the Government of Maldives, marking a key milestone in the strategic partnership established in 2022. ‘This initiative is part of a series of collaborative projects aimed at enhancing government operations in the Maldives by leveraging successful practices from the UAE government.’

The Government of the Republic of Maldives Executive Leadership Programme covers 5 capacity building courses, including Policy Development, Strategic Leadership, Digital Global Trends, Resilient Government and Government Innovation, delivered over 2280 hours of training.

In March 2022, the governments of the UAE and the Republic of Maldives launched a strategic partnership in government modernisation and development, covering 11 key areas. Since its launch two years ago, the partnership has seen 33 workshops with 7,000 training hours, benefiting 323 Maldivian government officials.
