Alexey Fursin, Minister of Moscow Government, Head of the Moscow Department of Culture, affirmed the Russian Federation’s commitment to strengthening its relations with the UAE in various fields, particularly in culture and cinema.
He highlighted the UAE’s rapid growth in these areas through the establishment of film festivals, cultural centres, and world-class production facilities.
In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the recently-concluded Moscow International Film Festival, Fursin noted that the UAE has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting its culture on the global stage, adding that the UAE’s participation in the film week is a testament to the strength of their relationship and reiterated the commitment to further enhancing cultural ties between the two friendly countries.
Fursin expressed admiration for the UAE’s cultural and cinematic movement, pointing out that Emirati filmmakers have gained increasing international recognition for their work, which reflects a
rich blend of tradition and modernity, and the country’s dedication to nurturing its creative industries.
He explained that the two nations share mutual respect for their cultural heritage, with cooperation steadily increasing through participation in each other’s cultural events.
Fursin highlighted the exploration of new initiatives for cultural collaboration between the Russian Federation and the UAE, including opportunities for artists and filmmakers from both countries. This includes joint film productions, hosting joint cultural festivals, and expanding educational exchange programmes. He expressed anticipation for collaborative projects in digital arts and media, which hold significant potential in both countries.
The Minister also expressed strong interest in producing a joint Emirati-Russian film that highlights the unique cultural collaboration between the two countries and showcases the creative synergy between their filmmakers as a symbol of deepening cultural ties.

m Festival, a major event in the film industry and one of the largest cultural events of the year, took place in the Russian capital from 23rd to 28th August, featuring participation from over 40 countries. The festival included screenings of more than 300 films, along with numerous training sessions and workshops led by Russian and international industry experts.
