BEIJING: The UAE participated in the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2024, held in Beijing under the theme ‘Global Services, Shared Prosperity.’
The country’s pavilion was co-opened by Dr. Abdulrahman Hassan Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for IP Rights Sector at the Ministry of Economy; Khaled Mohammed Al Shehhi, Deputy Head of the UAE Mission to China; and Guo Huai Gang, President of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Beijing. A number of government and private sector representatives from the two countries attended the opening.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Beijing and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade jointly hosted the ‘UAE – Beijing Economic Forum’ themed ‘Forty Years of Prosperity,’ celebrating the 40th year of the establishment of bilateral relations between the UAE and China. The Forum reviewed plans and policies aimed at developing strategic partnership and strengthening cooperation between the two countries in technology and the new economy. It was also aimed at enabling intellectual property (IP) applications in creative industries and exploring new opportunities to promote dialogue between the UAE and China at the government and private sector levels.
In his speech at the Forum, Dr. Al Muaini emphasised that the bilateral partnership between the UAE and China continues to scale new heights thanks to the shared commitment of both leaderships. He noted that the UAE’s participation in CIFTIS as well as the economic forum in Beijing underscore the commonalities in the strategic visions and plans of both nations and their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the development of innovative economic and service solutions.
He added, “The exhibition is one of the most prominent global events in the services trade, which provides a valuable opportunity to the participating countries to strengthen cooperation in this regard. It is an important platform to promote national industries and services before the international community, especially in manufacturing, technology and innovation sectors and the new economy.” He further emphasised the role of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in facilitating trade partnerships and the development of economic cooperation between the UAE and China in creative and innovative industries.
The UAE pavilion at the exhibition familiarised visitors with the country’s status as a sustainable destination for trade in new and diversified services and economic sectors. They were apprised of the advantages and incentives offered by the UAE’s business environment to entrepreneurs and investors, which consolidates its position as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The UAE-Beijing Economic Forum discussed joint business initiatives within the framework of the UAE-China relations and their role in supporting economic growth globally and regionally. Moreover, it reviewed successful economic and development projects on both sides, especially in the areas of investment, trade, innovation, technological industries, and energy.
