Public Business Sector Minister Hisham Tawfik and Social Solidarity Minister Nivine el Kabbag reviewed the necessary steps to convert a closed factory in Fayyoum into a ready-made garment complex.
Representatives of the Egyptian Foundation for Integrated Development (Al-Nida Foundation) along with a host of investors from the private sector attended the meeting.
The meeting was held as part of activating a cooperation protocol signed between the ministries of public business sector and social solidarity to convert the Fayyoum-based factory, which is owned by one of the holding companies for spinning and weaving, into a ready-made garment complex, said the Public Business Sector Ministry in a statement on Sunday.
The Public Business Sector Ministry will be responsible of restructuring the factory in order to be ready in December 2022, said Tawfik.
The factory will be able to house 14 workshops for ready-made garment industry, added the minister.
The 14 workshops will be rented by Al-Nida Foundation, which will be responsible of managing and implementing the project, he added.
Kabbag, for her part, said that the project is being funded by “FORSA” program at a total cost worth EGP 58 million.
