Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Friday, “Ignoring Palestinians’ rights and practising oppression and injustice against them will not bring peace to Israel.”
This came in a joint press conference with the Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, following their discussions in Ankara, according to Anadolu Agency.
Fidan said that Gaza has suffered from “complete barbarism” since October 7, adding, “As you know, the brutal targeting of everything in Gaza, including children, the sick and the elderly, and the bombing of hospitals, mosques, and churches, is a crime against humanity.”
“We cannot remain silent in the face of this brutality. Everyone who has a conscience and respects human life and truly believes in human rights must say stop this brutality and must strive to declare a ceasefire,” he added.
He stressed “the necessity of preventing the spread of the crisis to avoid witnessing much worse developments at the global level.”
He added that the only way to find a solution is to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
